Hello again, how nice to have you here! This
is my second post and I am afraid of making lots of English mistakes, as I am
Spanish. Therefore, I will try to write in an easy way, and I hope you can forgive me.
Spoonflower is a website where you
can print your own design, www.spoonflower.com. As I told you in
my first post, I have an online shop there , where I can sell my designs as
fabrics. I am really happy to have discovered this wonderful web a year
ago. http://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/juliagrifol
Spoonflower
has a theme based design contest to choose the top 10 best patterns each week. Last
January, the contest theme was about “Australian fauna”. I wanted to enter , but
I didn´t know which animals to choose as icons for my pattern. Therefore, I looked for photos of Australian animals on google. I
found some nice photos of an Autralian owl, called Boobook. And I liked this
wonderful bird. This is one of the photos which it helped me to draw my owls.
So I made a fast ink hand drawn sketch, a free
interpretation of the bookbook owl.
I wanted to add some Autralian butterfies to my pattern. I liked the " Cairns birdwings butterflie" and I drawed it.
It took me lots of days to develop and finish this design, as I made lots
of color changes in order to get the best color palette for me. It was a little
mess making the repeat. This is the
most difficult and intricated repeat I have made so far. So, I entered at the
contest, and happily my design was highly voted and got the third place.
.
This is the finished pattern.
My pattern was printed on cotton and I was very satisfied with the resulting colours. This is a fabric photo. Surprisingly, it is my best sold fabric design on spoonflowers.http://www.spoonflower.com/designs/1733964
I have
also this pattern licensed by kessinhouse, selling my design on great home
products.
